Welcome Letter

On behalf of the San Mateo County Community College District Department of Public Safety, I would like to welcome you to the Department's website. This website is designed to provide you with a source for public safety information and services available to you. The dedicated and professional men and women of this Department are committed to providing the highest quality public safety services and ensuring a safe and secure environment for the entire San Mateo County Community College District community.

The Department of Public Safety offers a variety of services to our students, staff, faculty and guests. Our officers are available 24/7 to receive reports of suspicious circumstances and to take requests for services. Public Safety Officers are also responsible for parking enforcement in addition to the initial response, investigation and documentation of various campus incidents.

The three colleges in our District -Cañada College, College of San Mateo and Skyline College- serve more than 26,000 students. Our Public Safety Officers are here to help you. Your safety is our first priority. Please help us by being alert, security conscious and involved. Contact your Department of Public Safety immediately if you have a problem, concern or would like to report an emergency, dangerous situation, or criminal activity. Please sign up now for our emergency text message notification system ALERTME for each campus you attend. Also, why not program our Public Safety phone number, (650) 738-7000, into your phone as well?

Whether you are a student, employee or simply a visitor to our colleges, the Department of Public Safety welcomes you. It is the mission of the Department to provide a safe and secure environment that supports and enhances the educational missions of our colleges. We know that safe environments allow students to thrive and succeed.
