FACTS ABOUT SKYLINE COLLEGE Acquisition of a northern campus site was recommended in the 1957 Citizens Advisory Committee "master plan" proposal for the San Mateo Junior College district . . . Property chosen by the North Site Citizens Advisory committe in 1958 was purchased later that same year for $548,000 (112 acres) with funds from the 1957 district bond issue . . . Skyline College ( the name stems both from the fact that the campus rises to the mountain ridge and from nearby Skyline boulevard) is being developed simultaneously with Canada College in the southern part of the county . . . First phases of both institutions are being financed from a $12.8 million bond issue passed overwhelmingly at a 1964 election and from district reserves, on a partial "pay as you go" plan ... architect for the College is John Carl warnecke & Associates . . . The grading contract was awarded in August, 1966, to the firm of Fisk, Firenze & McLean, Inc., low bidder at $756, 840 . . . Trustees on july 5, 1967, awarded the construction contract for three major first-phase building complexes (science-technical center, fine arts center and gymnasium) to the firm of Engstrum & Nourse, low bidder at $5,700,400 . . . completion of this work is scheduled in time for opening of the college in September, 1969. 1960's
