Veteran's Dorm I and II at Delaware campus.
Rent: Single - $10/month; double - $15 per month.
Returning WWII veterans lived here. Returning vets received $75/month for living expenses (GI Bill).
Adjacent to dorms were Victory gardens. They supplemented vets' food supply.
One method of acquiring vegetables was "midnight requisition".
Next to dorms, at the Humboldt street entrance, were the maried vets' quarters.
There were community kitchens in each dorm. Avg. cost for communal cooking was $20 per person per moonth.
Weekend parties were common.
