Transfer Abroad: University of Otago, New Zealand
2 + 2 Bachelor of Arts
- 2 years at San Mateo County Community College District
- 2 year at University of Otago in New Zealand
- Result: You achieve your Associate AND Bachelor's Degrees.
The University of Otago Bachelor of Arts (BA) lets you explore what genuinely interests you - from politics, philosophy, and history to criminology, anthropology, music, English and more. Designed with flexibility in mind, you’ll have the freedom to change your major or add minors as your passions evolve.
But studying at Otago is more than just choosing subjects - it’s choosing an experience. Picture learning in one of the world’s most beautiful and safe countries, surrounded by beaches, mountains, wildlife, and a tight-knit student city where campus life is truly walkable and community-focused. Dunedin is a classic university town, meaning cafés, flats, clubs, and friends are all just steps from class… it’s the kind of place where students quickly feel at home.
An Otago BA equips you with critical thinking, creativity, empathy, and communication skills that employers value across every industry - preparing you to become a thoughtful leader and adaptable team member wherever your career takes you.
Students can complete an Associate Degree in Arts at Skyline College, Cañada College, or the College of San Mateo, then transfer seamlessly to Otago to finish their Bachelor of Arts in New Zealand - learning a globally recognised degree while gaining an unforgettable international experience.
Please note that it is possible to transfer to Otago into majors outside the Bachelor of Arts (for example, the Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Science). However, completion within two years cannot be guaranteed. Your SMCCCD transcript will be assessed, and a formal credit evaluation will be provided with your offer of place.
