SMCCCD Study Abroad

Award: Up to $5,000.

Deadlines: First Thursday in October at 11:59 PM PST for the following spring, summer, and fall programs. First Thursday in March at 11:59 PM PST for the following fall, spring, and summer programs.

Eligibility: To be eligible for the Gilman Scholarship, you must:

• Be a U.S. citizen
• Receiving the Federal Pell Grant either at the time you apply for the scholarship or during the time you plan to study abroad.
• Be participating in a study or internship abroad program that is for academic credit. It must be in a country with a US Department of State travel advisory rating at or below a level 2.

The Fund for Education Abroad (FEA) invests in promising students with financial need who wish to study abroad. You can receive Up to $5,000 from FEA.

Deadlines: Typically September and January. Please see FEA website for next deadlines.

Eligibility: you must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident, currently enrolled as an undergraduate at a college or university in the U.S. (graduate students are not eligible), and your study abroad program must be eligible for credit at the your home institution.

Each year, the three colleges of the San Mateo County Community College District (SMCCCD) -- Cañada College, College of San Mateo, and Skyline College -- award institutional scholarships to new, continuing, and transfer students. The scholarship awards are based on academic achievement, financial need or specific interests such as clubs, athletics, and service. These scholarships are NOT study abroad specific but may be used for study abroad expenses.
