Students Using VA Education Benefits

How to determine whether courses are resident or distance courses for certification purposes:

For the Spring 2022 Semester, a Resident course is defined as an in-person class with meeting times/ location on campus (Day, Evening and Hybrid).

Note: there are no converted courses for Spring 2022 semester. Courses in Webschedule that are noted as online only courses (with no meeting times/locations on campus) will be certified as distance.

Reference the in-person class list in Webschedule to find in-person classes with meeting times/location on campus (Day, Evening and Hybrid).

What to be aware of for vaccination verification and enrollment for in person courses:

Eligible students using VA Education Benefits may be impacted if they are not enrolled in at least one Resident* course.

If a student is dropped from the Resident course(s) that determined their benefit allotment, this could have a negative impact, resulting in the student accruing debt.

 

Each student should refer to their Certificate of Eligibility issued by the VA for specific benefit details.

• Chapter 33: It is recommended students contact VA Education Benefits line at 1 (888) 442-4551 to determine the exact impact on their benefit amount.
• Chapter 31: Eligible students using Veterans Readiness and Employment Program (VR&E) benefits, should consult their assigned VR&E program counselor for specific benefit details including number of resident units required for maximum benefit allotment.
• Chapter 35 and 1606: It is recommended students contact VA Education Benefits line at 1 (888) 442-4551 to determine the exact impact on their benefit amount.
