District’s Colleges Award Nearly 4,600 Degrees and Certificates

Congratulations to the students who earned nearly 4,600 degrees and certificates at SMCCCD Colleges during the 2017-2018 academic year. 

The fast facts below are only a small snapshot of the diversity and caliber of our graduates.  This milestone in their lives will pay off professionally, personally and financially for them as they are being prepared for the jobs of today and the careers of tomorrow.

  • 2,831 Associate degrees were awarded
  • 1,720 certificates were awarded
  • 20 Bachelor’s degrees were awarded (for Respiratory Care program at Skyline College)
  • The youngest graduate was 17 years old
  • The oldest graduate was 74 years old
  • 185 international students from 44 different countries earned degrees and certificates
  • 90 Veterans of the U.S. Armed Services earned degrees and certificates
  • 19 graduates had a 4.0 grade point average
  • 732 graduates earned honors status (cum laude, magna cum laude, summa cum laude)
  • 1,109 graduates were first generation college students
  • 20 Foster Youth earned degrees and certificates
  • 60% of our graduates were female; 40% of our graduates were male
