Districtwide ADA Transition Implementation

In 2019-2020, the San Mateo County Community College District evaluated the compliance of its facilities and services with the current ADA code standards; Title II of the ADA, the 1994 ADA Accessibility Standards, the 2010 ADA Accessibility Standards, and the 2016 California Building Code.

The ADA Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan covers all three campuses and the District Office, as follows:

1. Transition Plan: this identifies physical barriers in buildings, roads, stairs, ramps, etc.

2. Self-assessment Survey: this evaluates the accessibility of services to students, staff, and the public such as Counseling, Enrollment, Financial Aid, and those on the College Websites.

The Districtwide ADA Transition Implementation’s main goal is to facilitate the obtaining of all the benefits of SMCCCD’s programs, services, and activities to individuals with disabilities by maintaining accessible facilities, which house these programs, services, and activities.

Benefits

The project will mitigate the physical barriers identified during the ADA Transition Plan: approximately 5,919 different accessibility-related barriers within the District facilities, with an estimated total cost of $29,984,391.

Schedule
