Skyline College Building 8 - Modernization & Seismic

Description: Building 8 is a three story building of cast-in-place concrete and was completed in 1969. This 44,670 sf building houses the Business, Language Arts, and Auto Technology departments. This modernization and seismic retrofit project includes renovating the existing electrical and mechanical systems. Accessibility upgrades include a new elevator that will service both building 7 and 8. New first floor division offices will be built for the Business and Language Arts departments. The existing Automotive Technology labs and offices will be renovated. The third floor will be renovated to accommodate an expanded Cosmetology Department.
Benefit : The modernization and seismic retrofit to Building 8 will create a facility that is in compliance with current earthquake and accessibility codes while addressing many of the current space needs of the Building 8 programs. Expansion of technologically equipped “Smart” classrooms will occur as a result of this project. The Heating and Ventilation systems will be improved throughout the building.
