Welcome to the skyscraper city and one of the world’s most significant financial centers. Hong Kong is a hub of business but also of art, culture, political advocacy, cuisine and much more. “The Vertical City,” as it is sometimes known, Hong Kong has a large English-speaking population and a world-class convenient transportation infrastructure making it the perfect city to gradually move out of your comfort zone.

Why Hong Kong

English-language internship opportunities are abound in Hong Kong from innovative start-ups to global organizations, multinationals, and NGOs in a variety of industry sectors.  As an intern in Hong Kong, your internship could range from Business, Finance and Accounting to Community, Health and Education such as community services or children’s services. Hong Kong’s strategic location in the heart of Asia and its use of English for business and legal communication makes this bustling city an ideal location for a successful internship experience.

"What is unique about Hong Kong is the international influence: It's a young city full of fascinating people. Due to its speedy development and entrepreneurial spirit, it attracts an eclectic mix of individuals and that's what makes it exciting--here, anything and everything seems possible."  -Lucy G., The Telegraph

Internships in Hong Kong: May 31 - July 25, 2020

Your exact internship is determined through a personalized one-on-one placement process as part of the application to the program that matches your career goals, interests and level of experience. Hong Kong internship placements are competitive and for many fields require some experience in the discipline. Students wishing to intern in Hong Kong should demonstrate academic rigor and adaptability. Sample internship placements may include:

  • Business Finance and Accounting: financial services, actuarial science, accounting, consulting, recruiting and real estate
  • Communications, Media, and Event Management: news, magazines, advertising, publishing, marketing, tour operations, and public relations
  • Community, Health, and Education: schools, community services, and children’s services
  • Research, Science, and Technology: universities, government agencies, engineering, hardware, software, and web development
  • Social Good: economic development, NGOs, microfinance, public health, social entrepreneurship, and social work

Your placement advisor works one-on-one with you to find an internship that matches your career goals, interests, and experience level. You are guaranteed an internship placement in your country of choice. However, some fields are challenging to find internship placements in, especially if your experience is limited. This program is recommended for students who want to gain professional work experience and build their intercultural skills in their fields of interest but are open to alternative placements if their first-choice field does not offer a placement.
