Update -
PG&E did not show up on Saturday the 22nd for this scheduled power shut down. Although Facilities did shut power down on campus we were not able to do the required work until PG&E shut down the main feed. We therefore need to reschedule another campus wide power shut down for this Sunday the 30th from 7 am to 10 am.
Hi everyone – construction of our new Facilities Maintenance Center up on the hill behind the baseball field is progressing nicely and looks to be on schedule for completion in January 2009.
In order to get some site high power electrical work completed during these initial phases of construction, a campus power shutdown is necessary to make complicated power disconnects and connects at the site. We purposely asked John Plane Construction to schedule the power shut down so as to minimally impact the campus . . . and the weekends straddling our Spring Break look like the best time to get this work done.
There will be NO POWER throughout campus on Sunday, March 16, from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. (5 hours) and again on Saturday, March 22, from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. (5 hours).
If you have questions, you can contact the Skyline Swinerton Project Manager, Zak Conway, at x7042. We will have Engineering staff on campus supporting both outages and restoring power to all facilities as quick as we possibly can.
In case I don’t get another opportunity - on behalf of everyone on your Facilities staff – we hope your Spring Break is a pleasant and relaxing one. Please be safe. Thanks -
