Razing of two colonnades between Buildings 1 and 5

The contractor has completed the abatement of the hazardous material on the colonnade rooftops between Bldg 1 and Bldg 5. An independent inspector has issued a clearance report indicating that it is now safe to proceed with the demolition of the colonnades.

Please note that the colonnades between Buildings 2 and 4, the colonnades east of Buildings 2 and 4, and the colonnades between Buildings 14/16/18 are NOT being razed!  Removal of the colonnades will provide for reconstruction of the area in accordance with the 2006 Facilities Master Plan and the project’s approved bridging design, including construction of the new Building 5, accessibility upgrades at the southern end of the campus, and improvements in the area around the reflecting pools.
