Hello everyone – our Electrical Upgrade Project on main campus will be getting underway and in order to get some high power (12kV) electrical preparation work completed, a campus power shutdown is necessary. We asked Hensel Phelps Construction to purposely schedule the power shut down during our Winter Break so as to minimize any impacts on the campus.
The campus will be without power on Wednesday, December 30, from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. (total outage = 15 hours). Depending upon the backup power capabilities of our various ITS servers on campus, this power outage could mean there will be no telephones, data services, or computer internet capability during this outage period. Loma Chica, the Child Development Center, and Pacific Heights will not be affected by this power outage; however, telephone or computer data service (internet, intranet, & email) will be affected during the outage.
Intrusion alarms in Building 2 and Building 5 will likely go off and alarm monitoring companies should be notified about the planned outage.
If you have questions, you can contact the Skyline Swinerton Construction Manager, Jack Herbert, at ext 7037, or herbertj@smccd.edu.
We will have Engineering staff on campus supporting this outage and restoring power to all facilities as soon as we can.
On behalf of all the ‘gals and guys in blue’ on your Facilities Maintenance staff . . . we wish you a pleasant and safe Holiday Season. Take care –
Richard
