Hi everyone and Happy New Year !
The campus-wide power shut down on December 30 went very well and Hensel Phelps Construction and Decker Electric did a magnificent job with getting the initial stages of the electrical upgrade project underway. Now there is some electrical conduit construction work that needs to occur to continue with the project. This construction will involve excavation at the SW corner of Building 2 (very near where the bust of Louis Pasteur once stood). Some of you may have noticed that area covered with steel plates and intentionally not paved during our quad beautification work between Buildings 1 and 2.
In order to conduct the excavation and install the new electrical conduits, pedestrian access to/from the bus stop area using the exterior stairs on the south side of Building 2 will be blocked. Pedestrians can get to the main quad level from the lower quad level at Building 3 or the Bus Stop area by passing through Building 2’s east entrance (entrance facing Building 3) and taking the stairs or elevator inside Building 2. Swinerton will install ample signage directing pedestrians through Building 2.
The exterior stairs on the south side of Building 2 will be blocked from Monday, January 4 thru Monday, January 18.
I apologize for this temporary inconvenience but all efforts will be taken to get this work completed before our students return to campus.
Take care –
Richard
