Hi everyone – in order to finish up some of the high voltage (12kV) electrical work that got started during Spring Break, a Building 2, 3 and 5 power shutdown is necessary to make complicated and dangerous power disconnects and reconnects to a new load center in Building 2. We asked Hensel Phelps and Decker Electric to schedule the power shut down so as to minimize any impacts to the campus . . . and Fridays during our Summer Break period was determined the best time to get this work done.
Buildings 2 and 5 will be without power on Friday, June 11, from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. (total planned outage = 3 hours).
Buildings 3 will be without power on Friday, June 11, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. (total planned outage = 8 hours).
This means Buildings 2, 3, and 5 will have no lights, no heat, no air circulation, and no power at electrical outlets during their periods of the power outage.
Our other buildings on main campus, Pacific Heights, Loma Chica, and the Childcare Center, will not be affected by this power outage.
If you have questions or are in need of any support as you get ready for this power outage, you can contact the Skyline Swinerton Team Chief, Jack Herbert, at ext 7037, or herbertj@smccd.edu.
Sorry for the temporary inconvenience. Take care -
Richard
