Located in Lake Charles, Louisiana, McNeese has a tradition of excellence dating over 75 years. Our approximately 8,000 students can choose from more than 80 undergraduate and graduate programs offered by the Colleges of Business, Education, Engineering and Computer Science, Graduate Studies, Liberal Arts, Nursing and Health Professions and Science. On-campus housing is available, and McNeese is surrounded by plentiful shopping and restaurant options and is centrally located within 5k of the regional airport and the city center. Lake Charles is also conveniently located on the I-10 corridor with easy access to the major American metropolitan centers of Houston and New Orleans (both about 2-3 hours by car from Lake Charles).The local community has a strong music and performing arts tradition, most of which are free to students. Tuition

  • Out-of-State tuition & fees (per year): $13,000 (with no awards) or $8,000 (with non-resident fee waiver)
  • International tuition & fees (per year): $19,200 (with no awards) or $8,000 (with non-resident fee waiver)

Living Expenses

$6,400-$9,600 per academic year, depending on room selection and meal plan option. (Students are not required to live on campus.)

We have two awards for domestic and international transfer students:

1.) Full non-resident fee waiver (approximate value is $11,000 per year). A minimum 2.5 GPA is required, as well as successful completion of College English and Math.

2.) International Transfer Scholarships, GPA of 3.0-3.49, $500 per year in addition to a full non-resident fee waiver (total value approximately $11,500 per year); 3.5-4.0 GPA, $1000 per year in addition to a full non-resident fee waiver (total value approximately $12,000 per year).
For Domestic Students:
  1. Complete official transcript
  2. Minimum 2.0 GPA ((with a 'C' or better in college-level English and Algebra)

For International Students:
  1. Online application
  2. Complete, official transcript (once the transcript is received, we will waive the TOEFL and SAT requirements)
  3. 2.5 GPA (with a 'C' or better in college-level English and Algebra)
  4. Affidavit of support and bank letter for $17,000 US
  5. Copy of passport bio page
  6. Scholarship application (if GPA is over 3.0)
