FAQs

Q: What is the difference between a constituent relationship management (CRM) system and Banner?

A: Banner will remain in place as the system that holds all of the student information, but a CRM will help the District and its colleges to use that data to better engage with those students and prepare them for success. If Banner is the “system of record,” the CRM is the “system of engagement.”

Q: What will the CRM actually do to ensure student success?

A: The CRM system will help District and college staff and faculty members follow student progression through the entire student lifecycle, from prospect to alumni. With greater detail at each level, it will allow us to take steps to intervene with students that are at risk of not applying, registering, applying for financial aid, or progressing towards graduation. Specifically, the CRM will include:

  • Communications and outreach support to students at the pre-application and pre-registration phases
  • Upgraded advising and registration tools
  • Greater ability to address financial aid issues online
  • Enhanced Early Alert System
  • Student portal with all of a student’s pertinent information in one place

Q: How long will this process take?

A: We anticipate that the system implementation will begin in Summer 2019 and will take place in phases over a number of years, with various new modules coming on line as they are completed. We will have further details on the specific modules that will come on-line at each point when the implementation process is in progress.
