SMCCCD Emergency Response
Emergency Operations Center
The SMCCCD Emergency Operations Center (EOC) serves as the central hub for coordinating information and resources during emergencies. It is specifically designed to manage and support emergency situations effectively. In the EOC, pre-identified and trained district staff members come together to collaborate and work towards restoring normalcy on campus as swiftly as possible. By leveraging the collective expertise and resources available, the EOC facilitates efficient decision-making, communication, and coordination efforts, ensuring a timely and effective response to emergencies. Its primary objective is to minimize disruptions and restore campus operations, prioritizing the well-being and safety of the campus community.
The EOC is designed to activate in response to a wide range of emergencies that have the potential to impact our campus community. These emergencies can include natural disasters like earthquakes, wildfires, or large-scale power outages. In addition to unplanned emergencies, the EOC can also be activated for planned events that require a heightened level of coordination and support. This proactive approach ensures that the necessary resources, communication channels, and decision-making processes are in place to effectively respond to and manage both unforeseen crises and planned events that have the potential to impact campus operations and the safety of individuals. By activating the EOC, the campus community can benefit from a centralized and coordinated effort to address emergencies and maintain a safe and secure environment.

Emergency Operations Plan
The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) maintains close collaboration with a network of campus units and leadership to effectively respond to and recover from emergencies, regardless of their nature or magnitude. The Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) serves as a comprehensive guide outlining the campus's response procedures during a crisis.
We have dedicated considerable effort to update the Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) to accurately reflect our current campus emergency response structure. This ensures that the plan aligns with the latest practices and resources available to address emergencies effectively. By regularly reviewing and updating the EOP, we strive to enhance our preparedness and response capabilities, ultimately ensuring the safety and well-being of our campus community.

Emergency Action Plan
The Emergency Action Plan outlines the necessary actions for employers and employees to ensure the safety of all individuals in the event of fires or other emergencies. This booklet contains detailed emergency procedures tailored to District personnel, including methods to account for personnel, rescue and medical protocols, shutdown guidelines, and emergency mapping.
The plan will be maintained in written form, printed, and made readily available to all employees. Additionally, it will be linked to the Quick Response Code (QR) displayed on the SMCCCD Emergency Poster, located at the bottom right corner. These posters will be strategically placed throughout all SMCCCD facilities to ensure easy access for all individuals, including those with access and functional needs.
Partners
The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) emphasizes the establishment of partnerships throughout the campus community. Depending on the nature and scale of an emergency, we work closely with numerous campus departments and stakeholders.
