Earthquake Emergency Checklist

Drop, Cover and Hold On
Dial 9-1-1 and/or call (650) 738-7000 (Department of Public Safety Dispatch)
Provide building number/name/campus
Locate/estimated number of trapped/injured persons
Special hazards involved (if any/known)
Evacuate the building if a life safety hazard exists
Don safety vest (building captain/floor managers)
Facilitate orderly movement of occupants out of the building
Direct evacuees to designated emergency assembly areas (EAA)
Direct emergency personnel to the emergency location
Maintain communication with DPS via radio
Assess the building for damage
Secure the building with hazard tape to prevent re-entry (if safety permits)
