Library OneSearch FAQ

  • Your username for logging in to your library OneSearch account, or for access to online library resources through EZProxy, is the same as your mySMCCD Portal login credentials.
  • Your Username was sent to you orginally in your Welcome email to your personal email address. It is the same username that you use to login to Canvas and other campus services.
  • If you have forgotten your username, use the Forgot Username Retrieval app for students.

You can reset your password by following the Forgot Password link on the mySMCCD Portal login page. For more information, view the Reset Password tutorial.

If you receive an error message from OpenCCC stating "Your session has timed out" and are unable to log back in, try the following options.

  • Close your browser (close all browser windows). Reopen your browser, and log back in to OneSearch.
  • Clear your browsing and cookie history. Log back in to OneSearch.
  • Try a different browser altogether (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.). Log back in to OneSearch.

This error occurs when the incorrect session is referred to in the browser when you have either logged out of, or your session has expired for single sign on (MySMCCD Portal). It can be triggered in OneSearch by a session timeout from another service or app such as Canvas where you are simultaneously signed in or out through your college single sign on (MySMCCD Portal) account. The CCC Technology Center is working on a fix for the problem (January 27, 2022).

Yes. Contact your college library to update your account to a "Community Member" account, instead of a "Student" account. Once updated, you will be given a new username and password for login. Additionally, you will begin using the "Community Member" login option.

With your new account, you will be eligible to borrow books and other items from most library collections, and use online resources that are open educational resources (not licensed for use by students and employees only). Please contact your library for additional details.

Your username was sent to you in a OneSearch welcome email when your account was created. Please contact the college library for support accessing your account or resetting your password.

You can use the databases or other licensed online library resources from whichever colleges you are taking classes at. If you are not taking classes at one of the colleges, you are not allowed to use their licensed library content unless you are visiting the library at that campus.

This error message indicates that EZProxy is not configured for access to the resource using the link you followed. Take note of the specific error indicated on the error page (take a screenshot or copy/paste it) and include those details with your support case. The error occurs in the following scenarios:

  • Most common: The error occurs when attempting to connect to content that is currently licensed by your library, and the configuration needs to be updated. Submit a support case and include all details from the error message.
  • The error occurs when EZProxy is being used with a resource that does not require EZProxy access, such as open educational resources (OER). If you believe the content is hosted on an OER search platform, try deleting the EZProxy link decoration pre-pended to the URL and see if this helps you get access. You may contact your library to verify whether the resource requires EZProxy access.
  • The error occurs when EZProxy is being used with a resource that your library does not hold a license for, so EZProxy is not configured for access. You may contact your library to verify whether the resource is licensed by your library and requires EZProxy for access.

This error message indicates you have exceeded the usage limits for licensed content from databases. This may include download or other usage limits. The suspension will expire in 30 minutes. Please try again once 30 minutes has passed. If you still receive the error after 30 minutes, please submit a support case so we can manually clear your account, or perform additional troubleshooting to identify the cause of the problem. In the meantime, on campus access should work. If you are unable to come to campus, you can access open educational resources (OER) from your library. Contact your librarian team for support finding OER library content for research.

This error message usually indicates there is a system problem with the EZProxy or related service, and the DNS cache needs to be flushed. Please submit a support case or contact your library to alert us to the problem so we can do the required maintenance. In the meantime, you may have success accessing other library resources, and should try using resources from another database or licensed content provider.

You may access open educational resources (OER) anytime--just follow links to OER content from OneSearch or an OER database. Contact a librarian for support finding OER content that is available to you. Licensed content may only be accessed when you are a guest visiting your campus library in person. Be sure to connect to your campus wifi network to get access.
