Bookstores
The three college bookstores have all undergone major renovations since 2005. Skyline Bookstore moved from a small portable building to the Student and Community Center (B6) in 2007. Cañada College Bookstore underwent a full renovation of its existing facility in B2 in 2009. College of San Mateo Bookstore moved into the beautiful new College Center building in April 2011 completing the modernization of all the bookstores.
Exceptionally serving the academic needs of the campus community, the Bookstores won the National Association of College Stores 2007 Innovation Achievement Award for the development and innovative funding model of its textbook rental program. The program, started in 2001 with just 35 titles, has grown to include over 1,600 different titles and has saved students over $4 million dollars in textbook costs since 2005 when the program began its expansive growth. Additionally, the Bookstores have added coffee concessions to supplement the Bookstores revenue with an estimated $1.3 million in sales in 2011-12 and offset losses in textbook sales.
