This page has information connected to SMCCCD's efforts in zero-textbook-cost (ZTC) and low-textbook-cost (LTC) courses. it is also where we share information and data collected by other agencies that may be useful to better understand the ZTC/LTC landscape.

  • Bay View Analytics: Bay View Analytics is a statistical research firm with a focus on survey design, implementation, and analysis. The scope of Bay View Analytics' consulting engagements includes scientific statistical analyses, clinical and pre-clinical trial design and analysis for publication and regulatory submission, and survey designs for a range of topics, with a particular focus on digital learning. They have been conducting research and publishing reports on the state of digital learning in U.S. higher education for over 20 years. Their recent reports on OER and other zero-cost materials include the following: 
  • RP Group: The RP Group is a nonprofit, nonpartisan team made up of a dedicated Board of Directors and staff, working together with a shared and resolute goal: to increase the success of California community colleges and beyond. It regularly produces reports on institutional research, planning and effectiveness. 
    • Basic Needs Among California Community College Students in 2023   and 2025
