Professional Development
Training and Support
SMCCCD and its colleges offer training and support for faculty who wish to convert their courses to ZTC. We also offer numerous events and workshops for everyone to learn more about this important work.
Open Education Week (OEWeek)
Every year, the first full week of March is the global celebration of all things open education. SMCCCD and its colleges have actively collaborated to celebrate our efforts. Check out our OEWeek Google Site for resources, recordings of workshops and webinars, and our virtual petting zoos of ZTC materials that our faculty use.
Professional Development for Faculty
SMCCCD has collaborated to offer a number of internal and external professional development opportunities for faculty who are interested in exploring the OER/ZTC world. Each type of training is set up to provide specific support in key areas of this work. Faculty who wish to learn more about trainings and compensation at their respective college's ZTC Team's page (Skyline ZTC, CSM ZTC, Cañada ZTC).
SMCCCD Micro-courses
OER Basics
The ASCCC OER Initiative (OERI) put together a Canvas-based course for those faculty who are looking to adopt, remix, adapt or author OER material. Each college has either direct faculty to that training through the OERI or has adapted it to their own use. Please consult each college's ZTC Team's page (Skyline ZTC, CSM ZTC, Cañada ZTC) for more information. This training is funded at 10 hours at Special Rate.
Accessibility Basics
The ASCCC OER Initiative (OERI) put together a Canvas-based course for those faculty who want to be trained in basic elements of accessibility, including Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and other elements that are key to open education. Each college has either direct faculty to that training through the OERI or has adapted it to their own use. Please consult each college's ZTC Team's page (Skyline ZTC, CSM ZTC, Cañada ZTC) for more information. This training is funded at 10 hours at Special Rate.
